Christmas in Pelham committee is looking for decorating elves and hosts for two events.

The elves will decorate the downtown early this Thursday morning.

The hosts will assist at the Outdoor Christmas Market on the evening of Dec. 5, but should sign up by this Friday.

On Thursday, the elves will put evergreen boughs and red bows on poles in Fonthill, Ridgeville and Fenwick.

They will meet at Star Tile on Hwy 20 in Fonthill at 6 a.m. and are asked to bring wire snips, several pairs of gloves to work the evergreen boughs and red bows, and if possible, bring a pick-up truck.

“The committee appreciates any time you can give, even if it is only an hour or two before you go to work, it would help immensely,” it said in a news release. “Tell your friends and neighbours, the more the merrier and the faster we can get the town decorated.”

Interested elves should RSVP to Gayle Baltjes-Chataway at [email protected]. Meanwhile, on Friday, Dec. 5, the committee will need help to bring a traditional European Christmas market to Pelham.

The Outdoor Christmas Market, will operate under “The Arches” in downtown Fonthill from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Volunteers will fill roles as entrance monitors (must be 19 years of age), beverage ticket sellers (must be 19 years of age), beverage servers (must have valid Smart Serve Certificate) and parking directors.

“Whether you can volunteer for just an hour or two or for the whole evening, your assistance is much appreciated,” said the committee.

Contact Sally Jaeger, special events and festivals programmer, at [email protected] or 905-892-2607, ext. 352, with details of availability on Friday, Dec. 5 and a role preference at the Market. Market volunteers should reply by Friday, Nov. 28 at 4:30 p.m. to set up schedules allow for contact.
