A plan to restore a cenotaph in front of Old Pelham Town Hall may face revision.
Ward 1 Coun.  Marvin Junkin said Monday, at a committee of the whole meeting, the Pelham Heritage Advisory Committee plans to ask town council at its regular meeting next week to alter current restoration plans.
Recreation director Vickie vanRavenswaay said the issue hinges on lead lettering on the monument. Some have fallen off. The question is whether to replace them or alter the engraving to reduce maintenance.
The town has set aside $33,000 for the restoration in its capital budget. It will be offset by a $16,000 federal grant and a $5,000 donation from Royal Canadian Legion Branch 613.
There may be an expert available to restore the lettering without removing the cenotaph for the work.
The monument has only lost 20 letters in 90 years, restoration of those letters could easily last another 90 years, said Junkin.
