The site of a former small church on Port Robinson Road could hold a single-family home.
At a public meeting Monday, no one commented on the owner’s request to rezone the property from Institutional to Residential R2.
Fred Albano plans to build a house on the property across from Glynn A. Green Public School. It once held the Christadelphians church.
The Christadelphians sold the church in 2014 and the church building was demolished.
Planner Julie Hannah, in a presentation at the public meeting, told town councillors the town has received no comments on the proposed rezoning.
The new zoning would match properties around it, she said.
The lot was originally residential when created in 1915 as part of the Emmett subdivision, she said.
In 1957, it was purchased by the Fonthill Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and rezoned to institutional for construction of a church. The Christadelphians of Niagara bought it in 1995.
Planning staff will prepare a report with recommendations to town council about the proposed rezoning.
