Through the Minister of Veterans Affairs, the Government of Canada is issuing a Certificate of Recognition and Commemorative Lapel Pin for service during the Second World War and the Fonthill Legion would like to help those who have yet to register.
President Rick Hatt says whether you served in the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Canadian Air Force, Merchant Navy or with other Allied Forces, they would like to ensure that you are recognized.
“Please call us soon so that we can get the certificates for presentation. We will apply for this recognition on your behalf and subsequently host an afternoon to distribute these recognitions on Mar. 1,” Hatt says.
The ceremony, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 613 in Fonthill, will take place at 2 p.m. and will be attended by MP Dean Allison.
Veterans have until the end of the month to register and can do so by contacting the Legion at 905-892-6293.
