Tulip time in Fonthill

The long cold winter started to get the best of Rhea Obdeyn.

As the snow continued to pile up in the driveway of her Concord Street home, she thought about her native Holland.

By March, the tulips would start to come out, she said.

Her 13-year-old granddaughter Alyssa Obdeyn decided to do something to lift her grandparents spirits.

With the help of her parents, she went to work last Thursday.

While Rhea and Ben Obdeyn were out of the house, she spray-painted a tulip garden on the piles of snow lining both sides of the driveway.

And she included a greeting to “Oma” and “Opa”.

“She did it all herself,” said Rhea Obdeyn. “It was a big surprise. The flowers look great.”
