Pedlar Bantam Panthers keep rolling through playoffs

Teamwork was highlighted as the Pedlar Funeral Home Bantam Panthers continued their playoffs.  On Feb 24th, the Pedlar Panthers faced Pelham Free Gas in a tightly contested game.  Matthew Vandenhaak's pass to the front of the net set up Zach Baltrusiunas for the opening goal of the game.  With the score tied, Elliot Song fed Charlie Devries who made his way down the length of the rink and went top-shelf for the go-ahead goal.  It looked like that was the way it was going to end, but Pelham Free Gas emptied their net and scored with 10 seconds left in the game.  Tyler Scott manned the pipes for the tie.

The Pedlar Panthers went on the road to face Grimsby #3 on Feb 28th.  The Panthers took an early 2-0 lead when Charlie Devries high back-hander found its target with the help of Jack Obdeyn and Devries scored again unassisted to end the 1st period.  The Grimsby team bounced back to tie the game before Dan Durkins high pass was redirected into the net by Mitchell Karnay for the winning goal.  Goalie Ross Michalko picked up another win.

Panthers on the hunt

The Pelham Panthers Bantam AE hockey team, sponsored by Fonthill Dental, is almost on it's way to the OMHA finals.  To get to this point the team had a convincing 3 game sweep over the Caledonia Thunder in their quarter-finals matchup.  Their current opponent is the Petrolia Oilers.  The team made the 3 hour journey to Petrolia this past weekend for 2 games.  Friday night saw the boys come out with a 2-0 win against a stingy Petrolia defense.  Adjustments were made and the next game ended in another win for Pelham, this time 3-0.  Both games were great team efforts, and made for exciting hockey.  The boys need just one more win to go to the OMHA finals against Huntsville.  The boys next game is at home in Pelham, this Friday, March 6th at 7:00 p.m.  If they don't win on Friday, then they have another chance Saturday March 7th at 1:00 p.m.  Come cheer them on as they try to move onto the finals!  Just a reminder that OMHA playoffs is $3 for adults and $2 for students and seniors.
