Advisory committees need members

The town is looking for volunteers to serve on some of its advisory committees.
It extended the application period to Friday for four committees that deal with grant awards, Summerfest, active transportation, and community beautification.
It is also looking for a livestock evaluator, a fenceviewer and a poundkeeper.
Town council has just updated the terms of reference for each advisory committee and designated the town departments with which they would work.
One, the heritage committee, was suspended.
A consultant will make recommendations on how a heritage committee would deal a list of Pelham historical properties, which the committee recently drew up.
Some committees have enough volunteers.
The architectural design advisory committee is busy working with an architect on a multi-purpose community centre.
The joint accessibility advisory committee, in cooperation other small Niagara municipalities, suggests accessibility improvements.
And the seniors’ advisory committee is an advocate for Pelham seniors.
The community beautification committee, a renamed communities in bloom committee, has projects such as the Trillium awards to promote a better looking town.
The grant awards committee of three members sorts out applications for permissive grants from the town.
Summerfest committee runs the July festival while the active transportation committee promotes walking, cycling, trails, sidewalks and other such activities.
