The Fenwick Lions Carnival is coming back to town this weekend, and the festivities are shaping up to be as exciting as ever. While this year’s event will feature many of the rides and attractionsthat people have grown to love, there will be a number of fresh new activities as well, most notably Tom Bishop’s Wild West Show, which will be giving two 45 minute performances on Saturday.A staple of springtime in Pelham, the carnival will be providing fun and games for the whole family. The carnival will kick off with the annual parade at 7:00pm on Saturday which will follow its usual route along Balfour and Canboro Road before turning down Church Street for the final stretch.Saturday’s activities will include the Niagara Antique Power Association’s display of assorted antique engines, a plant auction, the Lioness penny sale, and, of course, the much anticipated Wild West Show. Since 1914, three generations of the Bishop family have been putting on this all-Canadian performance that is sure to draw a crowd. Shows will be held at 1:00pm and again at 4:00pm. In the evening, guests will be treated to a fireworks display beginning at 10:00pm.Sunday will wind the weekend down with the Purina Walk for Dog Guides at noon, which raises money to offset the high costs of training and placing a dog guide for those in need. Throughout the weekend patrons will be able to take part in the fantastic food, games, and rides that have become synonymous with the carnival. While the cow plop lottery will not be happening this year, there will be a number of draw prizes including a mountain bike, quilts, andmany other items. Children’s face painting will also be set up in the vendor’s area.Wrist bands for unlimited carnival rides can be purchased at the Fenwick and North Pelham Avondale stores for a discounted price of $20. In lieu of an admission price to the Wild West Show, guests are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation for Pelham Cares. Pony rides for the kids will also be available for a small cost. Bleacher seating will be limited, so patrons of the show may want to bring lawn chairs to ensure their comfort.Come one, come all, the carnival is back in town!
