The short-bus operated by the Town of Pelham is not stopping at Sobeys.
An advisory sign has been posted at the store that the service is temporarily suspended, while the Town's official Twitter feed sent a message last Thursday that, "Bus stops along Hwy20 [are] in effect until further notice."
Sobeys owner Ron Kore tells the Voice that the disruption relates to discussions with the landlord, H&R Investments, over liability issues in case of accident.
After hoping that service would be restored by late Friday, Kore said on Saturday that, "It's in the hands of the lawyers, and you know the way lawyers are. Everyone has the liability insurance—the Town, H&R, Sobeys, and the bus company, so we're covered no matter what, but it's the lawyers."
The nearest Pelham Transit stop is immediately in front of the store, on Highway 20, and remains in service.
