On the eve of Regional Council's vote on whether to call on the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) to examine the Town of Pelham's financial situation, an overwhelming majority of those responding to a Voice opinion poll hope that Council does just that.

With about an hour to go before Council meets, 92% of respondents have answered yes to the question: "Should the Region of Niagara call on the province of Ontario to examine the Town of Pelham's finances?"

7% have voted no. 1% are unsure.

279 votes in total had come in by 5PM Thursday. Some 77% of voters said they resided in Pelham, 16% elsewhere in Niagara, and 6% outside Niagara.

The poll will remain open through Thursday evening. Readers may see updated results as they come in by refreshing the poll's page.

While online poll participants are self-selected and may not represent a scientifically accurate cross-section of opinion, the poll was designed to eliminate duplicate voting from the same computer or IP address. A sampling of IP addresses confirmed the accuracy of voters' residence claims.
