Ananya Jain, the Development Officer for Community Giving at the Niagara Health Foundation (NHF) joined the Fabulous Fenwick Lions Club on Wednesday, March 21, for a dinner meeting to receive a donation from the club. Ananya also shared some information about the foundation and how the funds will be used.
The Niagara Health Foundation helps fund extraordinary healthcare for residents in all Niagara communities at all Niagara Health sites. The philanthropic gifts raised from individuals, groups and corporations go directly towards:
• Purchasing essential medical equipment and cutting-edge technology at all Niagara Health hospital sites.
• Funding capital development projects, including the construction of new hospitals and upgrading facilities.
• Supporting special patient care programs and scholarships and bursaries for students and staff studying medical sciences.
During her presentation she said, “It is with immense gratitude and pride that Niagara Health and the Niagara Health Foundation celebrate Fenwick Lions Club’s commitment and hard work towards enhancing the quality of care and helping in building a healthier future for our community.”
She revealed an interesting statistic Fenwick Lions Club have been a long-time supporter of the NHF. The club has collectively donated over $68,000 through the years and have funded urgent patient care needs and priority equipment’s at Niagara Health.
The recent contribution of $5,000 will be going towards purchasing the “Spirit Specialty Beds”. These beds have new technology that provides special benefits for patients’ comfort, healing, safety and recovery. They allow for tilting and turning in multiple directions. This provides easier access to patients by the medical team. They also have progressive side rails to prevent falls or accidents.
The Fenwick Lions Club is committed to directing the majority of their donations to worthy causes in the Niagara Region. According to Club President Bill King, “We receive most of our funding from people and businesses in Niagara, so it just makes sense that we pour those funds right back into the communities that support us.”
