NEWS RELEASE
TOWN OF PELHAM
*************************
The Town of Pelham is launching the Communities in Bloom and Scotts Miracle-Gro® Best Garden Selection for the second year in an effort to name up to 12 local gardens as one of the top gardens in the community.

The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, in partnership with Communities in Bloom and select local municipalities, recognizes the hard work and dedication required to create and maintain impressive gardens in the community. Through the program, residents and businesses who have contributed to the beautification of the community will be recognized and receive an official “Best Garden” sign and Miracle-Grow products.

“It is wonderful to see the care that residents and businesses in Pelham spend designing gardens to enhance the beauty of the town,” said Vickie vanRavenswaay, Director of Recreation, Culture and Wellness. “The 2024 Communities in Bloom and Scotts Miracle-Gro Best Garden Selection will provide an opportunity to highlight these dedicated green thumbs in the community and show appreciation to those that keep Pelham blossoming each year.”

Residents and businesses can submit photos highlighting their gardens visible from the roadway through the online entry form. Entries will be accepted until June 21, 2024, and winning selections may be included in the Communities in Bloom judges tour occurring in Pelham on July 11 and 12. Selection criteria for winning gardens will include curb appeal, landscape maintenance, design principles, and design elements.

Communities in Bloom was established with the guidance of Britain in Bloom, Tidy Towns of Ireland and Villes et Villages Fleuris de France. It held its first edition in 1995, and 29 participating municipalities were honoured at the first awards ceremonies on Parliament Hill. The program now includes hundreds of communities across the country, and an international challenge involving communities from the United States, Asia and several European countries allows participants to compete internationally.
