The Lewis Family Chiropractic team are excited to announce the 5th Annual Pelham Family Run/Walk event taking place this Saturday.

All the proceeds from participant donations, barbeque, and door prizes that day will be donated to Wheels For VanDriels; a fundraiser to raise much needed funds for Dylan “The Champ” VanDriel.

VanDriel was diagnosed at three months of age with a rare and life-threatening disease called Vein of Galen Malformation that has greatly damaged his brain and limited his quality of life. His case is unique, in that he has the largest, most complex vein of Galen known world-wide. The potential for crisis remains real each day of his life because of the serious potential complications such as stroke, brain bleeds, and congestive heart failure associated with his diagnosis.

Though life for this family has dramatically changed with limitations and diagnosis, they have not lost hope, believing that VanDriel will continue to surprise them with small but precious accomplishments. In fact, after two and a half years of silence, he smiled and laughed for the first time, making for an amazing moment for the entire family.

The run is going to start at 5:00 p.m. (walkers will be starting at 5:05 p.m.) on Sept. 20 where the course should take approximately 90 minutes. The route begins at the clinic, located at 165 Hwy. 20 in Pelham.

To learn more about VanDriel please visit www.wheelsforvandriels.com. They are also asking local businesses who are able to donate in any way possible to help us with our barbeque or with a door prize to bring in a great crowd and make this community event a huge success like in the past. If you can contribute in any way, please contact their office 905-892-6200 and they'll be happy to answer any question and gratefully accept any donations.
