Fonthill man arrested after construction site thefts

In September, the Niagara Regional Police Service began an investigation into thefts from residential construction sites in Fonthill. The unidentified suspect was captured on video and observed to be in possession of stolen material from job sites.

In September, the Niagara Regional Police Service began an investigation into thefts from residential construction sites in Fonthill.  The unidentified suspect was captured on video and observed to be in possession of stolen material from job sites.

In the early hours of  Oct. 17, members of the Central Region uniform branch responded to a theft in progress on Marlene Stewart Drive in Fonthill, Ontario where a male was caught stealing items from a construction site. As a result of this arrest and assistance from a video surveillance system the male arrested was discovered to be the responsible person for the September thefts.

On Oct. 22, the accused was located and arrested.  Charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 is 25-year-old, Michael Roman of Fonthill. He will be released on a promise to appear with a future court date.

Police would like to thank the public as this investigation was assisted by vigilant members and through the assistance of a video surveillance system.
