Residents once again got a chance to dabble through downtown businesses in the annual Holiday Gift Showcase.
The opening of Christmas in Pelham featured showcases in Fonthill and Ridgeville Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday to encourage Pelham residents to check local shops when looking for gift ideas.
It’s working too.
Strut Shoe owner Georgina Lewaskewicz says events like these put a focus on small business owners in the downtown.
“It brings not only the businesses together, but also brings residents together around the holiday season.”
Renita Damm, one of the creators of the event, says it’s vital to promote local businesses during the holiday season.
“While Summerfest is a great way to promote, it’s only a weekend. Christmas is a two month event for us here, so the stroll helps kickoff to our busy season.”
Between planning the event and running J&J Floral, rest and relaxation have been a distant memory to Damm. She says the hard work and long hours are worth it.
“Everybody is feeding off the same event instead of a variety of special occasions, which makes for a great night of shopping and conversing.”
