Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore will open in about a month.

Alastair Davis of Habitat for Humanity outlined the volunteer group’s program to town council Monday.

It builds low cost homes for families with funds raised through donations and the sale of surplus and used construction items through its ReStore outlets.

It uses volunteer labour during construction and to work in its stores.

Habitat is opening a ReStore at 2499 Highway 20 East, just east of the Pelham town limits. Pelham resident Jodi Krah is managing the store.

Habitat for Humanity has built 43 homes around Niagara and plans to put up seven this year.

Through participation in construction and low cost mortgages Habitat gives families “a key to a better life,” said Davis.

With a secure home, families see an improvement in health, income and children’s education, said Davis.
