Police arrest pair on drug charges in Niagara Falls

Police say items seized include hydromorphone, fentanyl and crystal meth along with six shotgun shells

Niagara Regional Police say the 2 District Street Crime Unit (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) has made two arrests in connection with ongoing investigations into the sale of illicit drugs.

Police say on Monday two suspects were arrested after a search warrant was executed at a residential home on Drummond Road near Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls. 

Police say 204 hydromorphone pills, 2.2 grams of fentanyl, 1.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine along with six shotgun shells were seized. 

In total, the drugs seized are estimated to have a street value of $3,610, police said in a news release.

Jan Altorf, 21, of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
  • Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Hydromorphone)
  • Fail to comply with release order X 2

Altorf was held in custody pending a video bail hearing.

Sharren Boyer, 27, of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
  • Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Hydromorphone)

Boyer was released on an undertaking with a future court date of June 13 at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
